Position Overview:

Full-time nursing faculty are directly responsible for coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Responsibilities also include; meeting student retention goals; participating in educational planning; evaluating student performance; motivating and advising students; and generating program reports as needed. Full-time nursing faculty carry a normal teaching load of 15 credits per semester. Classroom instruction in may include teaching across all three nursing program.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Unencumbered NYS nursing license
  • Current CPR card
  • 5(+) Years of Clinical nursing experience in hospital, community etc.
  • Maintains expertise in field of study through professional development
  • Ability to assess and evaluate student learning
  • Competency in use of Microsoft Word, Power Point and other Microsoft Office products with preference given to persons who have used Blackboard or Moodle
  • Works well in an interdisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in discipline (Required if instructing in the BSN program)
  • Three years' experience teaching in a two-year college

  • Knowledge of lab procedures and equipment where applicable

  • Student recruitment activities related to the assigned program
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ongoing professional development toward an understanding of advances and developments in field and teaching methodologies. 
  • Curriculum and Course development
  • Participate in College committees/events
  • Basic competency in the use of Microsoft Word, Power Point and other Microsoft Office products

Deans perform most of their work in office settings. Minimal physical effort is required.

The employee must be able to operate personal computer and related equipment. Travel may be required for making public presentations and for attendance at regional or central meetings and conferences. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly requited to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
